Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was born in Barcelona and has been called an "atypical popstar" due to her various musical styles. After being captivated by Spanish folk music as a child of 13she enrolled in musicology at the Catalonia College of Music while also performing at musical bars and weddings.She graduated with honors by virtue of her album of cover songs that she collaborated together with Raul Refree in Los Angeles (2017) and her Baccalaureate-related project El Mal Querer (2018). It reimagined flamenco, mixing it with pop music and hip-hop. The two singles "Malamente" and "Pienso en tu Mira" have been a huge hit with the Spanish public and received widespread critical acclaim. El Mal Querer was the first artist to bring Rosalia to the international music scene. Rosalia's albums of 2019 "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were a pioneer in urbano music, achieving global success. The third studio album she released, Motomami (2022) gave reggaeton an innovative sound that was different from the traditional flamenco-inspired style. The album gained international attention due to its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was the best reviewed album this year by Metacritic. In her entire career, Rosalia has accumulated ten top-ten singles in her home country, which is the highest number for a local artist. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including 2 Album of the year awards) as well as four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been conferred to Rosalia. She also was awarded two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the sound of mainstream music with her flamenco-inspired pop"[18The award was presented to her in 18. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Her birthplace was in an unartistic family and is the youngest daughter of Pilar Tobella who runs a small family business that specializes in metalwork.
