Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his parents and a commitment in the local community. The first time, he was raised with Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on the farm close to Eufala in Oklahoma as one of their nine children. In second football, he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. For the three seasons that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Lee Roy's fourth service was ten-hours per week as a volunteer in the college. Following graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with the Buccaneers. There were three times, he was named an All-Pro. He began his business career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was player, commanded his team throughout 1975. In 1993 he joined his current position at University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented their Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
